MEXICAN RESTAURANT

I like this restaurant so much that I've been there for lunch three times in the last two weeks. (well, I had to check to see if their iced tea was really ridiculously weak or if it was just an accident the first time I went--it was; two trips later, the iced tea was brewed to its normal strength) One of the things I absolutely love about this place is its decor and ambiance. I'd rather eat in a beautiful place with mediocre food any day than a scruffy place with fantastic food (at least that's what I tell people!). It's amazing that this restaurant is located on the end of a plain regular rectangular-shaped building. It has been transformed itself into maybe the prettiest restaurant in Hamburg. The interior has vivid colors on the wall with original pictures and trim. The colorful, hand-painted chairs are imported from Mexico. Take a look at the photo gallery for a look inside this great restaurant. The food is good at this place, too, although I've only ordered one thing every time I go. I like the Chicken Chimichanga--filled with lots of chicken and served with beans, rice and guacamole salad. The first time I went, my mother ordered one of the lunch specials. She said the beef tasted great and she loved the red sauce. Now, she's ordering the Chicken Chimichanga, too! I've never had the beef. You'll have to let me know how it is--I'm sticking to my favorite. This is certainly a welcome addition to the Hamburg restaurant scene. If you haven't been to Coyote Cafe, I urge you to try it. Look for me--I'll probably be in a booth having iced tea and a Chicken Chimichanga!

This is a restaurant that doesn't take itself too seriously, the food is excellent, atmosphere eclectic and staff good natured. Ladda, the Thai hostess in a Mexican restaurant, (I told you they don't take themselves seriously!) is hysterical. She's not shy and starts the night off on a fun note. Their homemade chips & salsa that comes when you order at no charge, the seafood burrito, generously sized with a luxurious, white wine cream sauce can't be beat and they make a mean mojito from scratch - everything I need for a good meal! Check with them for nights they feature free entertainment with a band back on the patio, (they call it the Dumpster series!) They also have happy hour, and food to go - makes a great take to work lunch!

We love the Coyote, eat there a lot for under $10 for two people. We always split an entre, never leave hungry, and sometimes have left overs enough for another meal! Best chorizo around, love the beans (I daydream about the beans for a couple days after eating there). Crazy friendly lady greets and seats you, she is always over the top nice and accommodating. Ask the staff for a special appetizer: spinach beef que'sedilla. Romantic and fun place. They have some kind of mobile taco unit, too.

Small, cozy, busy on weekends. They serve chips and delicious salsa before your meal. They have a variety with lots of specials. Worth checking out, reasonable prices.

The Coyote Cafe is a family business, boasting grandma's recipes. And they certainly have a right to boast. You can sit at the bar and wait for your table in an atmosphere that is comfortable for all adults. You might not want to take children in the main bar in the back. But, as long as you have to wait, try one of their most excellent margaritas. The service is prompt, polite and friendly. It doesn't take more than a couple trips before you're a regular and treated like family. Everything on the menu is good, so you can't go wrong no matter what you order. Not every restaurant can boast that. Be forewarned though, that some family recipes like the chili rellenos are prepared a little differently than in other Mexican restaurants. You can certainly have a howling good time going out to eat at the Coyote Cafe. If parking becomes a challenge, just go across the street to the spacious municipal lot.
